Vodacom WP youngsters victorious

The Vodacom Western Province under-21 side had to delve deep to subdue to a fiery Leopards team on Friday in their Absa national competition game at Olen Park in Potchefstroom.

The Cape side eventually won 20-19, but had to defend their halftime lead of 20-9 with everything in their power. After wing JJ Engelbrecht scored early in the game after a cross kick, it seemed like the visitors would cruise to a comfortable victory.

It was, however, not to be, as the prodigious boot of flyhalf Louis Fouche kept the Leopards' hopes up. Fullback Martin du Toit scored Province's second try and added to penalties to make the score 20-6.

Then the Leopards started a huge comeback effort, but Province managed to survive the onslaught.
