ABOUT VODACOM CUP
The Vodacom Cup was instituted as a South African domestic competition in 1998 and provincial Unions compete for the title in the months February to May. The Vodacom Cup runs simultaneously to the well known Vodacom Super 14, and was established as a feeder competition from junior levels to senior domestic rugby. The Vodacom Cup gives rugby Unions not competing in the Super 14 the opportunity to compete at a domestic level during this time of the year, whilst the bigger Unions expose their younger players to a senior competitive environment.
Vodacom WP, wearing the Blue and White Hoops, compete in the Vodacom Cup, with the Vodacom Stormers taking part in the Vodacom Super 14. Western Province have never won the competition since it´s inception, with the Lions being the most successful Union at this level, winning the competition in 1999, 2002, 2003 and 2004. |
